ISOLUTE Silica-based sorbents
ISOLUTE® SPE Sorbents

ISOLUTE SPE sorbents are a range of leading quality SPE columns and 96-well plates, packed with a variety of ISOLUTE non-polar, mixed-mode and ion exchange sorbents.
Designed to extract drugs from biological fluid samples, a range of retention mechanisms are available, along with technical notes that detail how to use each sorbent type. All ISOLUTE SPE sorbents are available packed into standard or tab-less SPE columns, ideal for many manual and automated SPE procedures. For higher throughput applications, industry standard fixed well ISOLUTE-96 extraction plates, or versatile ISOLUTE Array wells and plates are available. ISOLUTE Array plates can be populated with up to 96 individual Array wells, to match the number of samples to be extracted.
ISOLUTE® Non-polar SPE Sorbents
ISOLUTE non-polar SPE sorbents are used to extract acidic, basic or neutral drugs from biological fluids using a non-polar (hydrophobic) retention mechanism.
The range includes silica based sorbents, such as ISOLUTE C2, C8 and C18 for retention of analytes with some non-polar character, and the resin based ISOLUTE ENV+ and 101 for the retention of more polar drugs and drug metabolites.
Non-polar sorbents available :
- ISOLUTE C18
- ISOLUTE C18(EC)
- ISOLUTE MFC18
- ISOLUTE C8
- ISOLUTE C8(EC)
- ISOLUTE C2
- ISOLUTE C2(EC)
- ISOLUTE PH
- ISOLUTE ENV+
ISOLUTE® Mixed-mode SPE Sorbents
Available in a range of standard configurations, ISOLUTE mixed-mode sorbents are optimized to extract acidic or basic drugs from biological fluids using a mixed-mode retention mechanism. The use of a dual retention mechanism allows the methods to incorporate rigorous interference elution steps, resulting in extremely clean extracts.
Mixed-mode sorbents available :
- ISOLUTE HCX, HCX-3 and HCX-5 combine non-polar and strong cation exchange retention mechanisms for extraction of basic drugs from biological fluids.
- ISOLUTE HCX-Q combines non-polar and weak cation exchange retention mechanisms for extraction of quaternary amine or strongly basic drugs from biological fluids.
- ISOLUTE HAX combines non-polar and strong anion exchange for extraction of acidic drugs from biological fluids.
ISOLUTE® Ion Exchange SPE Sorbents
Available in a range of standard configurations, ISOLUTE ion exchange SPE sorbents are used to extract ionizable drugs from biological fluid samples.
ISOLUTE anion exchange sorbents ('weak' or 'strong') are used to extract acidic drugs that have (or can have under some pH conditions) a negative charge from biological fluid samples.
ISOLUTE cation exchange sorbents ('weak' or 'strong') are used to extract basic drugs that have (or can have under some pH conditions) a positive charge from biological fluid samples.
Ion exchange SPE can provide very clean extracts, but control of pH and ionic strength of the sample are required for robust methodology.
Ion Exchange SPE Sorbents available :
- Anion exchange sorbents
- ISOLUTE NH2
- ISOLUTE SAX
- ISOLUTE PE-AX
- Cation exchange sorbents
- ISOLUTE CBA
- ISOLUTE SCX-2
- ISOLUTE SCX-3
ISOLUTE® Polar SPE Sorbents
ISOLUTE Polar silica-based sorbents are used to isolate analytes from non-polar samples using a variety of polar interactions. Silica is the most retentive sorbent, exhibiting hydrogen bonding interactions with the analyte. ISOLUTE DIOL, NH2 and PSA also retain analytes using hydrogen bonding. However, the analyte is not so strongly retained on these sorbents and may be eluted using less polar solvents. ISOLUTE CN typically retains analytes using dipole-dipole interactions.
Polar Sorbents available :
- SI
- DIOL
- NH2
- PSA
- CN
